Greetings, I look forward to your e-book on Dog Skin Problems. I have some questions about mass cell tumours. Specifically, what kind of a pain meds I should give her after I have one removed, this is her second, the last one was 3 years ago. I am a fan of Great Lady and my 9 year old female Ridgeback has been on her program since she was 5 years old.
Hi Carleen:
I hope you find the eBook helpful for any skin problems you encounter with your dog. It’s also great to hear that your dog has successfully been using “The Great Dane Lady’s” program for awhile now. That’s wonderful.
I would recommend “Tramadol” which is what my own furry girl was placed on after she had a cancerous tumor removed. She was placed on it for a couple of years because her surgery was so invasive. Tramadol is considered safer than NSAIDS and worked great for Lulu. I often recommend this same prescription drug for arthritis and hip dysplasia when all natural supplements no longer work.
Keep in mind that all prescription pain meds can effect the kidneys and liver over time; but based upon my own experience, NSAIDS such as Etogesic, Deromaxx, Rimadyl effect these organs MUCH faster than Tramadol. My dog’s surgeon felt that this was the best option and he was absolutely right. It worked great for my old girl for many years until Cancer returned at 16 and ended her life.
I hope this helps Carleen.
